You can activate any RBC Royal Bank credit card online. If you don’t have RBC Online Banking, go to rbc.com/activate. If you already use Online Banking, sign in and activate from your account details page.

Open the official activation page

Type www.rbc.com/activate directly into your browser’s address bar.

Follow the on-screen prompts

Enter the information requested to confirm your card and identity.

Optionally enrol in Online Banking

While activating, you can choose to enrol in RBC Online Banking.

Optionally apply for BalanceProtector Max

If you’re eligible, you can apply for BalanceProtector Max during activation. This is optional.
You don’t need Online Banking access to activate your card online.

With Online Banking

Sign in

Sign in to RBC Online Banking with your Client Card number or username and your password.

Select your card

On the Accounts Summary page, select your new credit card.

Activate

On the Credit Card Account Details page, select Activate My Credit Card and follow the prompts.

After you activate

Sign the back of your card if it has a signature strip. If the card replaces an older one, cut up and dispose of the old card. See What to do after you activate your card.
